Ferguson Recognized with Award

Awards of recognition are given by the BCHF to individuals who have given exceptional service in the preservation of British Columbia’s history.

WRP Paul Ferguson is being recognized for his long, exemplary service at the Chilliwack Museum and Archives as well as the Royal British Columbia Museum. Curator of the Chilliwack Museum and Archives for more than 20 years, Ferguson was responsible for the development and oversight of numerous original exhibitions, including the award-winning Brewer’s Gold, as well as Fraser River: It’s Spirit and Place and Chilliwack’s Response to Conflict. He was also a central part of the team that worked to begin digitizing and making the collection accessible to the public online, one of the first museum’s to do so in Canada.

Ferguson also worked for 10 years at the Royal British Columbia Museum (RBCM) as both Associate Registrar and later as the Collections Manager of the Modern Human History department, where he mentored new staff and prepared the collections for the move to the new Provincial Archives and Research Collections building.

The award was presented at the Federation’s annual conference awards gala in Vancouver on May 30, 2026.

The British Columbia Historical Federation encourages interest in the history of British Columbia through research, presentation, and support in its role as an umbrella organization for provincial historical societies. Established in 1922, the Federation currently provides a collective voice for over 100 member societies and 24,000 individuals in the provincial not-for-profit historical sector.
