Chad enjoys exploring Indigenous and Canadian culture with his elementary school students in Vernon. A local organizer for BC Heritage Fairs, he also acts as a Heritage Committee advisor for the OCCA Communities Association and an executive committee member of the Okanagan Historical Society (Vernon Branch). Chad has served as a director of the Museum & Archives of Vernon and the Okanagan Sports Hall of Fame. He was a researcher/writer/producer for the BC Hockey Hall of Fame and is currently a contributing producer for the Asians in Hockey podcast.

Chad coordinates and coaches the Larry Kwong Memorial Hockey 4 Youth program for newcomer and sidelined kids. Chad has contributed to several documentaries about Chinese Canadian history. He has been a featured speaker on national TV and radio news programs, podcasts, conference and festival panels, and at museum events. A writer of newspaper and magazine articles for local to international audiences, Chad published his first book, The Longest Shot: How Larry Kwong Changed the Face of Hockey, in 2024. The biography was awarded the Dr. Edgar Wickberg Book Prize for the Best Book on Chinese Canadian History.
