MERIT
Each year, the British Columbia Historical Federation recognizes outstanding contributions by individuals and groups to the study and promotion of British Columbia history.
Certificates
Normally, Certificates of Appreciation will be given to long serving members who are retiring from the BCHF Council and to members or friends of the Federation who have given exceptional service to the organization either for a specific project or for long service. Up to three Certificates of Appreciation may be awarded in any one year.
Certificates of Merit may be given to groups or individuals who have made a significant contribution to the study or promotion of British Columbia history. The award may be for an individual project or for activity over time. Up to two Certificates of Merit may be awarded in any one year.
Certificates of Recognition will be awarded to individual members of BCHF Member Societies who have given exceptional service to their organization or community either for a specific project or for long service in the preservation of British Columbia’s history. Up to three Certificates of Recognition may be awarded in any one year.
NOMINATIONS
Any member of the Federation may nominate candidates for Certificates of Appreciation, Certificates of Merit or Certificates of Recognition. Nominations, supported by a letter explaining why the nominee is deserving of a certificate, should be submitted to the Chair of the Recognition Committee by 1 March of each year.
Newsletter
Newsletters published by member societies are eligible to compete for an annual prize of $250. They will be judged for presentation and content that is interesting, newsy and informative.
• Only member societies of the BC Historical Federation are eligible
• Only one issue of a society's newsletter will be evaluated
• Submit three printed copies of this best issue from the previous calendar year
• Submissions must be received by March 1
• BCHF reserves the right not to award a prize in a given year should applications not be of
sufficient quality
